The NBA Playoffs are here, and the Memphis Grizzlies are continuing to look like the favorite in the Western Conference. The Grizzlies play a tough brand of old-school basketball that grinds the other team into a pulp. After defeating the Los Angeles Clippers in convincing fashion the Grizzlies are up 2-1 in the series against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
The Grizzlies have All-Stars Zach Randolph and Marc Gasol playing at a very high level and making it a pain for them to be handled in the paint. The world knows and respects the tandem of Gasol and Randolph, but Mike Conley Jr is making a name for himself as well. Tony Allen, Mike Conley, and TayShaun Prince are the perfect compliments to the Randolph and Gasol. With Conley being the floor general he places everyone in the best position to succeed. Since the trade of Rudy Gay Conle ...
Last season was magical as the Buckeyes went 12-0. No the team wasn't rewarded from a national standpoint, but to win twelve games in a row without a loss is a testament to how far this group of young men came from a season ago. With Coach Urban Meyer in the fold for years a come this may be a trend to how football seasons will be at THE Ohio State University.
The spring game was exciting to see. Players such as Mike Thomas, Chris Fields, Noah Spence, Curtis Grant, and Aldophus Washington opened a lot of eyes with their play. We all know that Braxton Miller, Bradley Roby, Ryan Shazier, Carlos Hyde, and the Offensive Line brings to the table, but it is good to see that other players are stepping up as well. I am itching to see the Bucks suit up this season. With last season's success it is only right to expect a similar output.

Is prison really like
what they show on TV?
Prison is nothing like what you see on TV. I cannot speak for every person or prison
but I can speak on my stay here. Television can't describe how mentally challenging
prison can be. Having a lot of time can be vice. When I first started my time I
had no idea of what to do with myself. Everything about prison is primitive on
a lot of levels, so there was a major lifestyle adjustment initially. Different
mentalities from different decades and cultures mixed with uncomfortable circumstances
don't always make for good environments. I would honestly have to make a week's
work of posts to accurately describe prison and it probably wouldn't do any
justice because I'd just be describing my personal situation. Every individual sees this experience different. I am just giving you my extre ...
I was given your name by your cousin currently in this facility with me. We good friends and he cared enough to ask me if I could send out some words of encouragement to you. He said you seem to be losing focus in life. I don't have a problem doing this simply because I enjoy the possibility of helping to potentially change someone's life. I started out by asking a little about you and he gave me a brief description. The first thing that popped into my head as he talked about you was George needs to learn to be a leader. Let me let you in on a little secret. Nothing good ever happens when you're hanging out and entertaining yourself with the peanut gallery. I know all the nonsense and foolishness is entertaining at times but please understand this; something you find funny and so entertaining can either put you in an early grave or behind ...
Did my title catch your attention? Good, because that’s
exactly what this post is about- big, buff Buckeye football players getting
pedicures at a local mall. Does that imagery put a smirk on your face?
Of course it does because the thought of strong, burley
young men, known for engaging in a violent gladiator-like sport, getting their
feet massaged and cared for is a funny thought. The irony of it all is
undeniable. In the end, I really want to get your feelings on if it’s “okay,”
from a masculinity standpoint, for a man (more specifically football players)
to “get his feet did?”
Here’s how the story unfolded:
I was witness to this event several months ago, just before
the start of the 2012 football season. My mom, daughter, and I were visiting
Polaris Mall here in Columbus. While leaving the food court, I noticed a sm ...
I am who I am. I do what I do, and it is what it is. It takes a lot of courage and character to keep going on after what I've been through. Some people have gone crazy and have never recovered from the crazy state of mind due to the stress that was imposed on them. Respect the fact that I've put in the work necessary to get my life back in order. Extreme depression and excessive amounts of stress can mess up anyone's life. If everyone will just take a moment to imagine with me an 18 year old who is not well traveled or formally educated and has only been faced with urban challenges. In a nutshell that's who I was when I was dealing with problems that I didn't have the capacity to understand, manage, control, or properly assess. I didn't have the intelligence or the resources to reach out to the appropriate human resources to help me out i ...
The Torg, one half of the notorious “Common Man and The Torg” radio show which airs on 97.1 here in Columbus, may have just stamped his ticket to work at “the Citgo.” Over the weekend, Scott Torgerson tweeted a comment about College Game Day’s (and Michigan alum) Desmond Howard. The content of that tweet (pictured below) has sparked a mini-controversy for The Torg and the “Flagship Radio Station of the Buckeyes.” The blowback was swift. The Torg has been suspended for an indefinite amount of time and was not on the show Monday afternoon.
Here’s my biggest issue with how this is being handled and it lies with the show’s hosts. If you’ve listened to the show, which I do, then you know that the personalities of the two men are very brash and unapologetic, which is fine. But they spend so much time ripping at ...
It’s time for another giveaway. This time we wanted to give away a real collector’s item, an item that very few Buckeye fans will ever have- a limited edition box of “Buckeye Heroes” cereal commemorating the 2002 National Title team signed by both Maurice Clarett and Roy Hall!

This week was the so-called "judgement day" for the Ohio State Football Program. The NCAA a.k.a. Non-Competent Association of A#####s made the decision to ban the Buckeyes from bowl play for the upcoming season. We all knew this day would come, but we did not know what to expect. I...
It's THAT time of year again, and those who know me have figured out I am a Bah Humbug kinda guy! When it comes to Ohio State and the success of their sports programs I am always in a cheery mood at this time of year when it comes to the...
Excitement is everywhere in the Buckeye community. Everyone is loving the new players and coaches Urban is bringing everyday and that energy and prestige is much needed. It gives the fans, alumni and students something to be proud of and look forward to this spring. People are anticipating championships and...
Ticket sales for the 2012 Gator Bowl are low. Not much hype is seen on television through ESPN or other major broadcast stations. There is more talk in the Columbus Dispatch about coaching changes than there is previewing the game.
Sure it isn't a BCS game, and when the Buckeyes are...
During Mike Conley's short career in Memphis, there have been many highs and lows. In the 2007 NBA Draft, Conley was drafted fourth overall and was expected to help jumpstart a faltering franchise. The smooth lefty from Ohio State has steadily improved each season.
Conley faced criticism in the early part...
A few weeks ago when Duke visited the Schott, there was also another, less welcomed guest-LeBron James. Before the game started, LeBron was met with a robust chorus of boos from the crowd of Buckeye faithful, even though LeBron is an avid Buckeye fan. The disdain for Lebron among Ohioans...
It's finals week on campus, and everywhere you turn, you see a sleep deprived student studying away, trying to pass classes or bolster their GPA. In corners, chairs, and on benches you'll find those which have fought battles with the books, but lost, and are trying to regain lost hours of...
Boy ol boy…. Today is one tough day to be a Buckeye!!! We lost a good one this morning… Brent Darby!! This piece is dedicated to him!!! I miss you Brent!!! Whew!!!
It is kind of hard to change gears so quickly…. But Brent would have wanted it this way… I...
Everyone knows that I have been calling for the hire of Urban this entire season and I'm glad that Gordon and Gene felt the same way. This is no time to say Luke wasn't good enough because he did the best with what he had but we did need someone...
As if part one wasn't boring enough, we all get the special treat of seeing LSU vs. Alabama part two for the BCS National Title in what will most certainly be the Butler vs UConn of college football. (And no, before you argue, a field goal kicking extravaganza is NOT...
I have always been a fan of the BCS. With the exception of the 2004 Auburn-USC split decision debacle, the BCS has always crowned a deserving national champion. Yes, Boise State and TCU, that means you have never deserved a chance to play for a National Championship. Playing one real team (maybe two) per...
If you haven’t heard, there has been a recent push by a student group called "Buckeyes for Concealed Carry” to allow students to carry on campus. The group argues that implementing CCW on campus would deter the criminal activity that has been so widely reported over the recent weeks. Fear will...
Thad Matta is a tireless worker who has literally put Ohio State men's basketball on the map. Several before him have tried to do what he's done and in a couple coaches era's they achieved some sense of being something other than a "football" school. I've been trying to hold off...
It is that time again, the Big Ten/ACC Challenge. The air is crisp, although this year it is saturated, and football begins to take a back seat to basketball. This year the challenge is highlighted by two top-ten match-ups, most importantly including Our Ohio State Buckeyes (2) against Coach K and...
Urban Meyer becoming part of the Ohio State family is great; I couldn't be happier, BUT how about a huge THANK YOU to Luke Fickell? This guy bleeds scarlet and grey as much as any of us, and stepped up to the plate for this team under some pretty bleak circumstances...
What's up everybody, It's BBall season so it's time for some Ball players to chime in. Let me introduce myself, my name is Scoonie Penn I am a former OSU Basketball player. I have played professionally in Europe for the last 11 years. Enough about me for now, I will get...
If your'e looking for moral victories from THE Rival, there aren't any. No player or fan in the HISTORY of this storied match-up between our beloved Buckeyes and the HATED Wolverweenies would EVER admit to it let alone write about it. I however am going to break tradition and bring to...
As I watch this post game press conference, it strikes me that the love and appreciation, Coach Luke Fickell has for The Ohio State University, is far beyond what many realize. For those that watched his post game press conference, I hope you saw the passion and emotion coming from Luke Fickell....
Today we lost to Michigan for the first time since 2003. Our defense had no answer for Denard Robinson while the offense looked great at times but fell short in the end. This one definitely stings. The loss caps off a dismal year for the Buckeyes and the NCAA will most...
There is no better way to start this blog off than by saying "I dont give a damn about the whole state of michigan". Its that time of the year where we hand out our traditional ass whooping to the boys up north. I personally love the fact that the...
I grew up in the 70 and 80's loving Ohio State football and just really enjoying learning about football from guys like Archie Griffin, Jack Tatum, Chris Spielman, Cris Carter and my favorite all-time QB Jim Karsatos. I'll have to explain that sometime soon with a where are they now piece....
Alot of conversations i have here in California, now that i am a buckeye transplant, is why and how someone could love a college football program so much. Especially after being removed for over 6 years now. Thats a very easy answer for me every single time it is asked. "You...
It is that time of year again, the week in which the players and coaches can finally talk openly about what the fans have been thinking about all season – beating Michigan.
Every year the season is measured as a success or failure based on one game, “The Game”, played...
Today I could write about all the things that went wrong last night. We could talk about what we would of done different to win the game. What more the Buckeyes could have done. How once again we were left disappointed by another loss and how we are not use to...
The Buckeye basketball team got us another big win tonight against the under matched Jackson State team. Ohio State started off to what I felt was another slow start, which could be an issue for us down the road when we play higher caliber teams like Duke. I saw sloppiness in...
