The Torg, one half of the notorious “Common Man and The Torg” radio show which airs on 97.1 here in Columbus, may have just stamped his ticket to work at “the Citgo.” Over the weekend, Scott Torgerson tweeted a comment about College Game Day’s (and Michigan alum) Desmond Howard. The content of that tweet (pictured below) has sparked a mini-controversy for The Torg and the “Flagship Radio Station of the Buckeyes.” The blowback was swift. The Torg has been suspended for an indefinite amount of time and was not on the show Monday afternoon.

Here’s my biggest issue with how this is being handled and it lies with the show’s hosts. If you’ve listened to the show, which I do, then you know that the personalities of the two men are very brash and unapologetic, which is fine. But they spend so much time ripping athletes, coaches, and entertainers for “not keeping it real” that for them to not address this national news topic on the show shows just how hypocritical they are when the heat is on them. On today’s show, the Common Man simply stated that the Torg was “resting” and not once did he address the real reason behind the absence of his co-host. This would be understandable if it was coming from any other radio hosts, but from these guys? It really shows that self-righteous, intolerant; know-it-alls always get what they deserve in the end.
Thoughts?
